Iran reiterated its conditions for ending more than seven months of war with the United States on Wednesday, as another ship attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz was struck by a projectile — underscoring the continued dangers restricting traffic through the critical waterway.
Tehran downplayed recent indirect talks with Washington, saying there was "nothing new" to report from the latest round of discussions, suggesting negotiations remain stalled despite ongoing diplomatic contact.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has traveled to New York for the UN General Assembly, where he is scheduled to address world leaders on Wednesday — his first speech since the U.S. and Israel launched the war against Iran in February 2026.
The renewed attack on shipping near Hormuz highlights how, despite earlier claims the strait had reopened, the waterway remains far from secure, with tensions between Iran, the U.S. and regional powers still unresolved.
